Welcome To Beaver CottageOn this website we hope you can find all you need to know about our newly refurbished cottage in Aldeburgh Suffolk set in 11 acres of grounds with stunning views leading down to the River Alde where you can swim and kayak.
Pets are welcome and you can walk them straight from the door. Wonderful wildlife.The cottage has a large living room and three bedrooms and can sleep 5 plus there is a folding bed. Aldeburgh is a charming seaside town on the Heritage Coast. It is famous for the Aldeburgh Music Festival, Benjamin Britten, and arguably the best fish and chips in England! The shingle beach is lined by traditional, black fishermen's huts where you can purchase fish, crabs, lobster and more. NOTE AS OF JANUARY 2020 THE BOOKING OF BEAVER COTTAGE WILL BE HANDLED BY ALDEBURGH COASTAL COTTAGES WHO WILL ALSO BE HANDLING THE CLEANING OF THE COTTAGE. Orchids in our field. See left. April 2018 Better picture of a badger see left. Now we just need to get the baby badgers! February 2018 We have got badgers. See left and on our wildlife page. Lots of snow too. July 2017 We looked in our owl box at the end of June and there were four small baby owls, only one of which was big enough to be ringed. We went back on the 9th of July and there were only three baby owls. Our video of the owl ringing can be seen on the left. They are about two weeks later than last year. June 2017 Our latest acquisition. A gypsy caravan in our orchard. See left April 2017 Nightingales have arrived. They usually arrive in our grounds around the 14th to the 18th April and we heard them this morning the 14th, right on cue. How do they manage it coming all the way from sub Saharan Africa? September 2016 We have just got our new border collie puppy. Black and white and called Jesse. Pictures see left. July 12 2016 Barn owls now fledged. June 2016 We have just bought a new wildlife camera and the first pictures you can see left and also on the Wildlife page. June 2016 Ray caught some lovely sea bass in the river from our beach. See photo left. May 2016 Sadly our beloved Border Collie Jake died in his sleep aged 13 years and three months. He had a happy and contented life able to run in the grounds and dig holes in the beach by the river. April 2016 The nightingales have arrived in our garden. Also the other evening we heard two bitterns booming. March 2016 The building work is now complete and our first guests arrive on April 2nd. The new kitchen and bathroom are great. See above. Also see their review on Tripadvisor here. January 2016 The buiding work is progressing well and we are on track to finish by the end of February. So in March we will have a good size bathroom with bath and shower, a kitchen with dishwasher and washer/dryer and a new heating system as well as the woodburner in the living room. The whole cottage is also being redecorated. November 2015 Our building work has started. We have had a wood burning stove fitted in the living room which was much appreciated by our last guests before the work commenced. July 2015 We have got 5 baby owls in our owl box. July 2015 We have gone out to tender for the new building work so the cottage will not be available to let between November and probably February 2016. June 2015 We have got planning permission to build a new bathroom and extend the exiting kitchen into the old bathroom. So next year will be even better for our guests and yes there will be a dishwasher! June 2014 Our barn owl box has 5 baby owls in it. They were ringed on Friday 13th by our local barn owl expert. June 2014 We saw a seal in the river the Sunday before last. |
